Do we need reservations for camping, lodging, or river trips?
Camping: We recommend reservations for weekends, especially from Memorial weekend to Labor Day weekend. Weekdays do not require a reservation, but they are recommended so that you may reserve your favorite site number and that we can expect your company.
Cabins: Yes, we recommend a reservation in advance for all cabins, weekends and weekdays. Our cabins are available to book a year in advance of the reservation date.
River Trips: We do recommend reservations for large groups. On weekends and holidays we take reservations for groups coming before 12 NOON. This reservation guarantees you availability of the boats, but you still have to wait in line to get launched. BACK TO TOP

Are gift certificates available?
Gift certificates are available in any denomination. Purchase gift certificates in person or over the phone. BACK TO TOP

What job opportunities are available at Mohican Adventures and how do I apply?
Most of our employment opportunities are for seasonal help during the summer, while some positions may be open from spring to fall. To apply, simply stop by Mohican Adventures to fill out an application or email or call us with your address to send you a copy. BACK TO TOP

CAMPGROUNDS & CABINS
When is the campground open?
The campground is open from April to December. Water will be turned on in the RV sections and primitive cabins depending on weather and outside temperature. Water is turned off October 31st for some cabins and all RV sites. BACK TO TOP

What does it take to reserve a site or cabin?
To reserve a campsite you must be at least 18 years of age. To reserve a cabin you must be at least 21 years of age. A reservation deposit is required and sites or cabins will not be held without a deposit. Deposits can be made with a Visa, MasterCard, or Discover card. BACK TO TOP

Are showers available and what do they cost?
We have modern shower houses that are open 24/7. They are FREE! We do not charge you to stay here and then expect you to pay to shower. We recommend not staying anywhere that does. BACK TO TOP

What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in for camping sites is after 2:00 pm. Cabin check-in starts at 5:00 pm. Check-out is by 12:00 NOON. BACK TO TOP

What form of payments does Mohican Adventures accept?
We require our deposits to be made at the time of reservation in a Visa, MasterCard, or Discover card. At check-in, guests may pay by one of the above credit cards or with cash. We do not accept personal checks. BACK TO TOP

What time is quiet time and why is there a quiet time?
Quiet time is from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am. This means no loud music, singing, or hollering during this time. You can still be awake and enjoying the outdoors, you just have to also be courteous to others. There is a quiet time to make sure that everyone is enjoying their stay at Mohican Adventures. BACK TO TOP

Are late check-ins available?
Check-ins must be in by 11:00 pm. There are no late check-ins after that. If you are arriving after 11:00 pm, you may check in the following morning when the office opens. Cabins keys will not be left at cabins. BACK TO TOP

Why aren’t late check-ins available?
There are many reasons why late check-ins are not allowed. The two biggest reasons are for liability and guest happiness. As with most things in life nowadays, there are forms to be signed and passes to be given. With customers coming in late, we can not ensure that the proper paperwork is signed and passes administered. Other customers who have already checked in find late check-ins disturbing. Parking an RV or finding a campsite and setting up a tent after dark can be difficult, noisy and agitating. This is why we do not allow late check-ins past our quiet time. BACK TO TOP

Can you put tents on a cabin site?
Tents near cabins are prohibited as they can be a fire hazard. The cabin area is not zoned for tent camping by us or the Fire Marshall. BACK TO TOP

Do you need 4-wheel drive to get to all your tent sites? Can I make it up the 4-wheel drive area in my car?
Most of our tent sites (including wooded and open field) do not require 4-wheel drive to get to them. However, we do have two 4-wheel drive areas in our tent section (Eagle's Nest and Buzzard Roost). While cars and 2-wheel drive trucks have reached most of these in the past, we do not recommend trying to get to these sites without 4-wheel drive. Especially with reserving sites ahead of time, the weather cannot be predicted and rain can make these areas tricky to navigate through. Mohican Adventures clearly indicates 4-wheel drive roads and is not responsible for damages to vehicles trying to make it up these areas. BACK TO TOP

Are there group rates or discounts given on cabins?
We give discounted rates on cabins during the off-season and during weekdays. We do not give additional discounts on cabins, including for large groups. By staying with us, you do receive discounts off of the River Trips or the FAMILY FUN PACKAGE, along with discounts at over 15 area businesses that honor our guests. BACK TO TOP

What should I bring?
We’ve done most of the planning for you. Visit our webpage HERE to see some of the things that most people desire when visiting Mohican Adventures, but sometimes forget to bring. Remember, our camp store has a lot of the things you may have forgot when packing! BACK TO TOP

Do you have a visitors’ fee?
We do have a visitors’ fee of $9.00 a day for anyone 11 years and older, and $5.00 a day for youth 10 years and younger. Visitors have to register at the campground office before entering the park and receive their passes before entry is permitted. Visitor passes will only be issued to those visiting a registered camper or cabin renter. BACK TO TOP

Why are non-camping guests charged a fee to visit us?
You, as a camper, have paid to use our facilities. Visitors also use them, which creates additional costs & liabilities and also overcrowding for our paying customers. In order to not raise prices for the additional costs on everyone, we’ve implemented the visitor fee so that prices stay low and visitors are still allowed in the park. BACK TO TOP

Are there tent sites or cabins available on the river?
We do not have riverfront tent or RV sites. However, we do have some tent sites along our creek and RV sites along the creek and lake. We have four cabins along the river. They are Frye's Riverside A-frames and the Riverside Ranch Houses. You get the beautiful scenery of Mohican wherever you stay in our park. BACK TO TOP

What comes on the sites?
Each camping site and cabin comes with a picnic table and fire ring. All cabins also come with a charcoal grill. RV sites come full service with 10/30 or 10/30/50 amp electricity, water, and sewer. A dump station is also location on the grounds.

Where is everything located in your park?
Our campground is very large, but most activities are within walking distance from all of our sites. Please view our CAMPGROUND MAP to see where everything is. BACK TO TOP

Is there internet access in the park?
We are in a NomadISP wireless zone. The service is provided through NomadISP and they do have a charge.
You pay online with a credit card through their website. Visit www.nomadisp.com or call their support number for help:
1-877-254-6672. BACK TO TOP

Is there cell-phone service in the park?
Mohican Adventures is tucked into a beautiful valley, meaning that cell-phone service is very touchy. Verizon-Wireless gets the best signal in our area. However, people with other providers have been able to find signal by standing on the flat rock on the left hand side at the end of our drive. BACK TO TOP

Can I reserve online?
We’re sorry but we do not have online reservations at this time. BACK TO TOP

Can I reserve specific sites?
Yes! We do reserve specific sites for guests on a first come, first reserved basis. Mohican Adventures does have the right to change your site if need be. This ONLY happens if the site is damaged in some way and benefits the customer by moving them. We will try to notify you ahead of time if your site needs changed. BACK TO TOP

May we put more people in cabins than the cabin occupancy says and just bring sleeping bags?
Our cabin occupancies are not merely suggestions. They are set by State Fire Marshalls and Health Marshalls and are required to not be violated by our insurance. All guests must be registered and accounted for by the campground office. If occupancies are violated, guests will be asked to leave without refund. BACK TO TOP

How many people can stay on a campsite?
We have a 4 adult and 4 children maximum occupancy on our sites. For tent sites, the price goes by the person, so it does not cost anything in addition to get more sites. BACK TO TOP

Where is propane available?
Propane can be found at Morris Motors, the car dealership right beside us, or at Mohican RV center, left out of our drive and the 1st road on the left. BACK TO TOP

What is the refund or cancellation policy?
Cabins must be cancelled 30 days prior to arrival date in order to be refunded, minus a $30.00 per cabin cancellation fee. Camping sites must cancel a week in advanced of arrival date in order to receive refund, minus a $10.00 per site cancellation fee. There are no refunds given after these dates or after check-in. No refunds are given for holiday reservations. Camping is an outdoor experience and we do not give refunds for early departures due to weather or any other reason. BACK TO TOP

Is there drinking water near tent sites?
Tent sites do not come with water on site, but water is available on your way to your tent site, along with at the shower house. BACK TO TOP

When is the busiest time of the season?
Our busy season is between Memorial Day and Labor Day, with the end of June until the middle of August being our busiest. We recommend coming during the week if you'd like to miss the crowd. BACK TO TOP

Am I allowed to bring my dog?
Dogs are allowed in our campground, but not in most of our cabins or any public buildings inside the campground. Pets are allowed in our Frye's Riverside A-frames for an additional $50.00 per pet per stay. Pets are no charge in our camping section as long as they are kept under control, tied up, cleaned up after, and not left unattended. Campers who receive complaints about their dogs barking will be asked to leave. Violations will result in a charge. BACK TO TOP

Is firewood available? Can we bring it from home?
Firewood is available in the campground store during operating hours. You may bring firewood from home, but we ask that you do not bring Ash to help stop the spread of the Emerald Ash Borer. See www.ohioagriculture.gov/eab for details on the Ash Borer. BACK TO TOP

Are there places to fish and do I need a fishing license?
Our campground has a lake and pond to fish in. These have bluegill, bass, brown trout, carp, and catfish in them. You do not need a fishing license to fish on Mohican Adventures property. Fishing here is catch and release. There are also great places to fish in the Mohican area, including the Covered Bridge and Pleasant Hill Lake and Dam. To fish in areas in the Mohican State Park, you do need a fishing license. BACK TO TOP

Can we use rafts or tubes in the pool or the pond?
Rafts and tubes are not allowed in the pool as they take up too much room for the other guests. Arm floaties or infant tubs are allowed in the pool. Rafts and tubes are allowed at the beach area of the lake. BACK TO TOP

How are the hot tubs taken care of?
The hot tubs are emptied, cleaned, and refilled after each guests’ stay. Chemicals are kept at appropriate levels by our maintenance and pool staff. If there is a problem with your hot tub during your stay, please report it as soon as possible to the office staff so that it may be taken care of in an appropriate manner. The pool and hot tub at the shower house are checked multiple times daily for chemical levels, cleanliness, and the following of pool rules. BACK TO TOP

Are the bugs bad there?
We are within the City Limits of Loudonville and they spray regularly. We also spray around our cabins. Despite our efforts, one of the trade offs of being in such a beautiful, natural setting are sharing it with nature’s own pets, including insects. Insects are normally not bad here though and a light spray of bug spray usually takes care of any discomfort. BACK TO TOP

Where should we keep our food and belongings while camping?
We are a safe and patrolled campground who has not had a history of stolen items. However, nature’s guests often help themselves to food left out at a campsite. We recommend putting food in vehicle’s or coolers that lock shut, as our raccoon friends have learned how to open coolers that do not lock. BACK TO TOP

Can I put a boat on Mohican Adventures’ lake?
Our lake is only a 4.5 acre lake. No motorized boats are allowed on the lake (including battery powered motors). You may put a non-motorized boat in the lake. Life jackets must be worn. Pleasant Hill Lake does have a public launch area for motorized boats that is just a short drive away. Their website is www.pleasanthillmarina.com. BACK TO TOP

What are the differences between the three mini-golf courses?
The Level Skills Course tests your ability to play the game. Skill comes more into play than luck. The Adventure Course has strategically placed rocks and water hazards where you'll need some help from Lady Luck. It also goes up on the top level of our courses. The Grist Mill Challenge course has sand traps, a running water wheel, and challenging holes where skill and luck meet wishes and prayers. BACK TO TOP

For what reasons does the canoe livery close?
The canoe livery does close for high water. We may limit the types of boats or ages of participants if water levels are higher than normal without closing. To check on water levels and what each water level means click HERE for more details.

Is your stream swift?
No, it is classified as a Class 1 river, which is as easy as it gets. However, during periods of high water our river can get dangerous due to downed trees and swifter currents. That is why we monitor the river and have restrictions during high water (read above). BACK TO TOP

Are dogs allowed coming on canoe trips? Are they allowed in the buses on the way back?
Dogs are allowed in our canoes. They are not allowed in our rafts. Dogs are to be kept on a short lease and attended to at all times while they are on our property. They are allowed on the buses on the way back, but must be on a leash and controlled.

Are there any restrictions for children on the river?
As long as we are in normal water levels, children of all ages are allowed on the river with their parents. As water levels rise, we restrict the ages and watercrafts allowed on the river. Click HERE for more details. BACK TO TOP

What is the busiest time of the season?
Our busy season is between Memorial Day and Labor day, with the end of June until the middle of August being our busiest. We recommend coming during the week if you'd like to miss the crowd. BACK TO TOP

The river is patrolled on a regular basis and you can be fined and/or arrested for drinking and littering. BACK TO TOP

What time do we have to be off the river by and are there any time restrictions on how long the trip takes?
Boats must be in by 7:00 pm on weekdays and 8:00 pm on weekends in-season from Memorial Day Weekend to
Labor Day Weekend. Out of season times vary. There is a fee for boats that come in late. The river trip times that we
give are estimates. You may take as long as you want to complete the trip, as long as you are in by the times stated above. BACK TO TOP

Are there places to stop for food and bathrooms on the river trips?
Our 7-mile canoe trip goes by campgrounds and snack bars. There are usually restrooms or port-a-potties at these locations; however they are often for patrons only so you may have to buy a snack. On the 15-mile trip, you go mainly through woods and cornfields and do not have a place to stop until the last 2 miles of the trip. BACK TO TOP

What age must you be to go in a single kayak?
As long as water levels are normal, a child of any age can go in a kayak with parent’s permission. Parent’s should keep in mind that our shortest trip is 7-miles and can be quite tiring for children of small ages. Be prepared to have to stop and rest and possibly switch boats with young children kayaking on their own. Children should be kept within eyesight. Remember, kayaks tend to go faster than canoes. BACK TO TOP

How do we know where to stop on the river and at what times does Mohican Adventures pick us up?
The office staff will explain the trip to you and provide you with a river map. Our landings are well marked and say our name, trip mileage, and logo. There is also landing staff at every landing who will make sure you get out fine. Mohican Adventures buses run continuously from our 7-mile pick-up point. The 15-mile trip is bused upstream to the start of your trip at the top and bottom of every hour from opening to 12:30 pm in season. BACK TO TOP

Who has to wear lifejackets?
Children 10 and under and non-swimmers MUST wear their life jackets by Ohio Law. We recommend that everyone wears their lifejackets. Everyone must have a lifejacket in the boat with them. In cases of high water, everyone may be required to wear life jackets at all times throughout the trip. BACK TO TOP

Can we bring our own canoe or kayak?
You can bring your own hard-sided canoe or kayak (no inflatables) and we will haul and launch them for half the rental price. In order to get your boat hauled, Mohican Adventures has to be bringing back boats of our own. BACK TO TOP

Do we need reservations?
You do not need reservations for weekday rentals or on most Sundays. Saturdays are our busiest days, so we take reservations for arrival times before NOON. The reservation just guarantees you the boats, it does not put you at the front of our line. BACK TO TOP

Which rivers do you float?
Our 15-mile trip is on the Blackfork River. Our 7-mile trip starts on the Blackfork, but the Clear Fork River flows into it about 1⁄2 mile down from the start and that is where the Mohican River begins. The Lake Fork also flows into our river on the 7-mile trip. BACK TO TOP
